Our vision is to be Green For Life.
It sits at the core of our strategy and the services we provide, helping our customers reach their own sustainability goals.
Goals as published in GFL's Sustainability Action Plan, first published in 2022.
Illustration of the published target only, not actual emissions data.
Two ways we cut emissions.
Helping customers avoid emissions through material recovery, recycling and the beneficial use of landfill gas as renewable energy.
Reducing our own emissions through more gas capture at our landfills, alternative fuel vehicles in our fleet and renewable electricity at our facilities.
The target was set by aligning with the Global Methane Assessment, the Science Based Targets initiative and the IEA's pathway to Net Zero.
Where sustainability happens.
Material recovery
Advanced MRFs that divert recyclables from landfill, preserve virgin resources and cut GHG emissions.
Landfill gas to energy
Facilities that capture biogas and turn it into electricity or renewable natural gas for homes, businesses and vehicles.
CNG fleet
At least 50% of our annual diesel truck replacements are CNG or alternative fuel vehicles.
Organics
Recycling organic waste into compost, fertilizer and soil supplements keeps it out of landfills.
Team Green and the communities we serve.
Our Safe For Life program is our roadmap to a Total Recordable Incident Rate of 2.0 or less. Employee engagement surveys, a fund for employees affected by natural disasters, and the Green Futures Employee Scholarship and Green Leaf Scholars Program support our people.
Through the Full Circle Project, customers help choose the charitable categories for our annual giving, and employees build long-term relationships with local charities.
